After completing my Master of Nurse Practitioner, I was incredibly proud of what I had achieved—but almost immediately, I felt lost.

I didn’t know how to apply for a provider number or prescriber number, what was expected regarding insurance, or how to actually step into the role I had worked so hard for.

At the time, I was working as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in a public hospital, with no clear NP pathway available. When I moved into private practice, the gaps in my knowledge became even more obvious.

I quickly realized there were critical skills we simply aren’t taught at university—like how to bill MBS items correctly, how to navigate the PBS, how to prescribe safely and appropriately, and how to actually function as a confident, independent practitioner.

There was so much I should have known—but didn’t.

That’s why I created NP Practice Fundamentals.

To give nurse practitioners the practical knowledge, systems, and confidence needed to transition into real-world practice—without the overwhelm, confusion, or guesswork I experienced.
